New Boston Fish Fry

The first New Boston Fish Fry was held in August of 1921, when the farmers of Bay Island and community members gathered to honor flood workers and town merchants. Since then the community gathers every August to celebrate their community all weekend long.
The New Boston Fish Fry is the biggest, annual event for the City of New Boston. The festival kicks off the weekend with a parade and continues its excitement with family activities, children’s attractions, vendors, local merchants, live music, fried catfish and chicken dinners, and outdoor recreation tournaments such as bags, horseshoes and volleyball. Starting at dusk, the New Boston Fire Department showcases a magnificent fireworks show off of the Mississippi River. To bring the festival to a close, the river road closes down to make room for a street dance.
