New Boston 2017 Memorial Day Celebration Honors Those Who’ve Served

One Memorial Day many years ago, a Boy Scout named Lance Parrish decided to start the tradition of placing the memorial flag poles at the New Boston cemetery as his Eagle Scout project. Now, 20 years later, the celebration continues and many New Boston citizens come together at the cemetery to be a part of a celebration that honors those who’ve served.

The 2017 Memorial Day Celebration took place on Monday, May 29 at 10:00 am at the New Boston Cemetery. The celebration featured a flag ceremony by the Boy Scouts, a keynote speech by the Mayor, and recognition of the New Boston Outstanding Citizens of the Year 2017.

Congratulations to Whitey and Marsha Phillips who were the recipients of the New Boston Outstanding Citizens of the Year 2017.  The pair volunteer their time where ever and when ever they can for their community.

The Memorial Day Celebration takes places every year on Memorial Day at 10:00, and continues to grow as one of New Boston’s most endeared events.
