Fish Fry Creates Memorable Experiences

Carnival rides entered the city of New Boston early the week of August 21, reminding citizens of the exciting weekend to come. The New Boston Fire and Ambulance teams rose early many mornings to prep fish and clean the park, knowing that many families and friends would gather around their plates of crispy fried fish and chicken. Bands sound checked their instruments and community members put the final touches on their floats, hoping for the first place trophy.

It was time for the Annual New Boston Fish and Chicken Fry, and everything was adding up for this year to be the best that has yet to come.

The event lasted three days and included a carnival, the first time in fifteen years. Community members were nostalgic as they watched young kids ride the same rides they remembered riding when they were children. Distant sounds of live music played as lines of hungry people waited for their favorite dish of fried fish, chicken, homemade potato salad, bakes beans and sweet tea. The parade brought laughter as colorfully decorated floats inched their way down Mainstreet. Community members showcased pride as they watched veterans and soldiers march flags passed clapping onlookers. History and progress was highlighted as old tractors chugged behind new ones, and antique cars lead new trucks and mustangs. Children scrambled throughout the streets to gather candy that was being thrown in the air with excitement. As night fell, loud booms of warning let everyone know to head to the river for a beautiful fireworks display. Bright colors spread across the sky for hundreds to see. As the night came to a close, live music filled Mainstreet as community members danced with their friends and family to bumpy music.

This year, the New Boston Fish Fry created memorable experiences for everybody, all the while raising money to continue providing the citizens of New Boston with a town they can trust, cherish and live in forever.
