The 2016 New Boston Annual Fish and Chicken Fry has had another successful year with record attendance!
On Saturday August 27, the City of New Boston held their 95th Annual Fish and Chicken Fry to promote and raise money for the city.
Families came from far and wide to eat delicious fried fish and chicken prepared by the New Boston Fire and Ambulance Department, and participate in a variety of events including bounce houses, games and live music.
The event kicked off with a parade where floats decorated to “Salute the Red, White and Blue” inched their way down Main Street, greeting citizens with a smiling wave and handful of candy.
The following were announced as winners for their parade participation:
Horses: 1st Rissa Imler, 2nd Bree Ellis, 3rd Savanna Weeks
Floats: 1st Geertz/McKeag, 2nd Tammy & Kirk Everts, 3rd RiverRatz
Motorcycles: 1st Citizens 4 Soldiers, 2nd Norm & Barb Baggett, 3rd John & Susan Baggett
Kiddie: 1st Macie DeFrieze, 2nd Trudie & Blake Shepard
Tractors: Doug Schaffer, 2nd Ed Dixon, 3rd Tim Stump
Cars: 1st Jim Adams.2nd Mike & Cindy Lebsack. 3rd Denis Russell.
Young ladies from New Boston dressed in their best to compete for Queen and Princess of the New Boston Fish Fry. Ashlyn DeFrieze was crowned the New Boston Fish Fry Queen, followed by the First Runner Up Madison Lilly, and Second Runner Up Adison Rowland.
Layla Robertson was given the title New Boston Fish Fry Princess, followed by Josie Green as First Runner Up, Lillian Puckett as Second Runner Up and Abigail Lance as Third Runner Up.
The New Boston Fish and Chicken Fry ended with a beautiful fireworks display on the river and a night full of dancing under the stars.
